Queen Creek’s town council is scheduled to vote on whether to rename its holiday celebration the “Queen Creek Hometown Christmas” Wednesday.
The vote comes a year after a controversy surrounding what to call the centerpiece of that event — it was officially referred to as a “Holiday Tree,” but more than 60 e-mails came into the town requesting it be called a “Christmas Tree.”
The vote would also move the celebration from its traditional spot at Town Hall to the new library site about a quarter of a mile away, which town officials say will reduce electricity costs and give the festivities more room.
The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Queen Creek Town Hall, 22350 S. Ellsworth Road, Queen Creek.
