Central Arizona College Foundation’s Promise for the Future Scholarship program got a $1 million boost from the Gila River Indian Community.
Through the State Shared Revenue Program, Native American communities with gaming revenues are allowed to make 12 percent of their annual contribution directly to cities, towns and counties for services that benefit the general public.
Coolidge applied for a grant on behalf of the Promise for the Future Scholarship program to benefit the students of Pinal County.
Promise for the Future is aimed at eighth-grade students who are residents of Pinal County. Students registered in the program who graduate from a Pinal County high school with a minimum 2.75 grade point average are eligible to receive two free years at any of Central Arizona College’s sites.
Since 2005, nearly 200 students have used the program to attend Central Arizona College.
